The Youth Empowerment Consortium (YEC) has announced the appointment of Mr. Issah Shaibu as its new Training and Skills Development Manager, a move aimed at strengthening the organisation’s capacity building and youth development agenda.
Mr. Shaibu is an experienced agriculturist, development professional, and youth empowerment advocate, with a strong focus on sustainable development and gender inclusion.
He currently serves as a Farm and Project Manager with OCP Africa in the Northern Region, where he has been involved in advancing agricultural productivity and community-based development initiatives.
Prior to his appointment at YEC, Mr. Shaibu worked with iDE Ghana (International Development Enterprises) as a Senior Farm Business Coordinator and Farm Manager. In these roles, he applied data-driven approaches, statistical analysis, and strategic planning to improve farm productivity, seed production, and overall community impact. His professional background reflects a blend of academic training from the University for Development Studies and hands-on experience in agricultural and rural development.
At YEC, Mr. Shaibu will be responsible for designing and implementing training programmes, mentorship initiatives, and leadership workshops aimed at equipping young people with employability skills, governance knowledge, and civic leadership competencies. His work will place particular emphasis on inclusive participation, ensuring that women and marginalised groups have equitable access to opportunities for skills development and leadership.
A committed gender activist, Mr. Shaibu is widely recognised for promoting social inclusion and empowering women and girls to actively participate in development processes. His approach aligns with YEC’s broader mission of nurturing responsible, civic minded young leaders capable of contributing meaningfully to national development.
Speaking on his appointment, Mr. Shaibu reaffirmed his commitment to mentorship, knowledge transfer, and purpose-driven leadership, noting that empowering young people, especially women and girls remains central to building resilient communities and a sustainable future.
