Youth Empowerment Consortium (YEC)

The Special Initiatives and Women-Led Campaigns Directorate serves as the central coordinating arm for all programs and projects advancing gender equality, women’s empowerment, and inclusive leadership within YEC.

Its core mission is to create platforms where women, especially young women can build capacity, lead boldly, and drive community transformation through civic, economic, and policy-oriented engagement.

The Directorate runs three major flagship programs:

3. Women Economic Empowerment Projects (WEEP)

Overview: The Women Economic Empowerment Projects aim to build the financial and entrepreneurial capacity of young women across Ghana, especially those in underrepresented or disadvantaged communities. These projects integrate training, mentorship, and access to resources to help women create sustainable livelihoods.

Key Interventions:

  • Entrepreneurship Development Program: Training on business planning, financial literacy, product development, branding, and market access.
  • Women in Agriculture Initiative: Support for women agripreneurs through modern farming methods, agro-processing, and cooperative building.
  • Digital Skills for Women: Training on e-commerce, digital marketing, freelancing, and tech entrepreneurship.
  • Microgrant & Mentorship Scheme: Seed support for promising start-ups led by women in the YEC network.
  • Community Empowerment Hubs: Localized projects focusing on vocational skills and cooperative business models.
